Introduction
At Thomas Edison State University’s Center for Learning and Technology (CLT), we are passionate about solutions. We believe that when we focus on solutions rather than on problems, we best serve students, maximize technology, advance accessibility, and increase engagement. Our dedication to solutions is the lens that brings the future into sharp focus, keeping us moving forward with conviction into the educational frontier.
Embodying our Vision
We have a clear vision for our work. We strive to enhance the lives of our students by creating meaningful learning experiences through engaging, sustainable, inspirational, and outcomes-focused learning environments and curricula.
That means that we serve self-directed students through the creation of innovative learning environments, outcomes-driven curriculum design, reliable assessment, and the innovative use of current and emerging technology. At the same time, of necessity, we focus on achieving system scalability.
Looked at this way, our frontier is filled with exciting opportunities. We believe we are uniquely poised to offer robust and inventive solutions to those we serve.
Practicing Our Principles
We embrace an open and collaborative course design process that enables multiple experts to meaningfully collaborate around learning outcomes, course objectives, and content. We champion an outcomes-first approach to course design and utilize technology to engage students wherever they are in the learning process.
Each member of the Center for Learning and Technology works collaboratively with other department members and University personnel to develop new courses, revise existing courses, generate high quality assessments and exams, create appropriate multimedia experiences for students, manage academic technology systems, and deliver course content.
But these broad outlines only begin to tell what goes on at the Center for Learning and Technology. In this document we hope to explain how and, more importantly, why we do what we do.
